Rapadama Village
Project Partner: Ocades-Caritas Koupela
We’re so pleased to be working with our newest partner, Ocades-Caritas Koupela to bring clean water to two sites in Burkina Faso. With their years of expertise in both well construction and community training skills in maintenance, repairs and the WASH element, this project is poised for success.
Both sites are east of the capital city of Ouagadougou. The first is located in the village of Rapadama, where this project has been in the planning stages for over one year. The second is the school of Mogtedo V6, located a few kilometres from an unprotected surface water source. The distance these students must travel for water means less time spent in school; but with your help, all this can change.
The village and school communities will form Community Water Committees, trained on maintenance and repair so that the sustainability of both projects is long lasting. WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) training will be a substantial element of the training received by both the community and the school.
A total of 750 people will have access to healthy, clean water at the conclusion of this project. Your support will significantly improve the overall health of not one but two communities! Please follow along as we share project updates and photos.
Deliverables : Two deep wells; community/school mobilization to form community water committees; training in repair, maintenance and water; sanitation and hygiene (WASH); and financial officer training to further capacity building efforts.
Time Line: Project Start DateĀ May, 2014 – Anticipated Completion Date: September, 2014
Fund Code: BFOCK2015
